After the FFC Blue, a prototype created for the Only Watch charity auction in 2021, F.P.Journe presents the FFC model that joins the Classique collection in exclusive production. This watch, which indicates the time with a mechanical hand, houses an ingenious system that once again pushes the boundaries of technical and horological innovation.

Most often, great ideas are born from unexpected encounters. The concept of the FFC was born out of a discussion between François-Paul Journe and the renowned filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola, who lends his initials to this creation. During a dinner shared in 2012, the American filmmaker brought up the following question: “Has a watchmaker ever tried to represent time on the five fingers of a hand, the way the ancients used to count the hours?” François-Paul Journe was seduced by the idea, although he knows how difficult this challenge is. After 2 years of reflection, 7 years of development and countless hours looking for solutions to the technical problems involved in such an ambitious project, the model finally came to life.

The mechanical prowess of the FFC lies in the functioning of the hand, inspired by a prosthesis invented by the French surgeon Ambroise Paré (1509/1510 - 1590), the father of modern surgery. Every 60 minutes, the fingers come to life, appearing or disappearing instantaneously to indicate the time according to their positions.
